The TalkBass Personal Support Thread

The recent OT thread, "are you happy?" surprised me with the number of people who voted for the "no" option. And recently there have been several threads dealing with emotional and spiritual problems of all kinds. And from those I got the idea for this thread.

Because TalkBass is such a helpful community, I figured we could have a thread in which people could discuss whatever emotional problems they are having. That way, they can find other people who are going through the same things, and help each other get through. They could even post their own success stories.

Because some of these problems are so personal, many feel uncomfortable discussing them with even their closest family or friends. I know I do. So I think with the anonimity of the internet, people could discuss these things in this thread, and maybe once they feel comfortable they will be able to discuss such things in "real life".

It would be great if we could build a network simply consisting of people helping other people. I know there are many members here who would like to listen, and I'd be happy to as well.

Trouble with your girlfriend, can't find a job, or just feel crappy? Rant about it here.

Here's hoping this flies.

I don't even know where to get started, I could go for hours.

Let me see.....

Too wimpy to ask out a girl that I am in love with

No motivation at school, and life otherwise

Mom always nagging

Hate my neighboors, they complain about noise, then they blast music :hmm:

Been feeling like crap lately

Need better grades to get into any sort of college

Too many people nagging me, telling me "You need religion to be truly happy" **** You, keep saying that, and I'll knock you out. (I'm not against religion, just don't push it on me ;) )

Need money, to buy a car. I really need the freedom, and the greatest feeling ever : Flying down backroads, singing along to really corny songs, windows down. Complete liberty :)

Need to kick the caffeine addiction, I only sleep 2-3 hours a night

I hate my left shoulder, broke collarbone 9 years ago, still aches like a ***** all the time.

Think I have arthritis in my thumbs :(

Really starting to dislike hardcore environmentalists. *No offence*

Arg.

Sorry for the length. You asked for a rant, that's the best I can do.

That really helps, actually :)

19 years old, can't relate to anyone my age finding them irresponsible and immature. Being in college, not many older people around. Especially more mature ladies, and then bam, I find one, and shes on her way to Africa in a week or two. Other than that been single for over a year and quite lonely.

But other than that, I can't complain. Half my face is swollen, have a bottle of Percocet that I haven't needed to touch since my wisdom teeth came out yesterday morning and feeling great.

Mmmhhmmm, I could not agree more. and I had the most perfect opportunity to do it tonight, but I chicken out. I had to restrain myself from beating the tar out of myself for being such a p***y.

I'm a wimp :(
In my situation, I've been friends with the girl for a while. If I ask her out and she says no, not only will there be a crappy feeling of rejection, but it would probably make the friendship too akward to continue.

I had the chance two days ago, and decided to wait. Then when I got home I analyzed the whole situation for hours in bed. I think over-thinking this is my problem.

Ya, this girl is also one of my closest friends. If I lose her as a friend, I don't know know what I would do :(

Life is complicated, eh? :p

Atleast be grateful that you guys have the girls you desire in your life. Although if I was in your situation I would be no better off because I am a wimp as well, I would love just to have a girl to admire but I am afraid I do not. After taking a hard relationship loss just very recently in fact, I have been left kind of shell shocked. I had a girlfriend on and off for 3 years and now that I have lost her, the loneliness I feel is immense.

That and the fact that I have no clue whatsoever to do about a major/career. Sometimes life really hits you hard.

Same here. Except for the whole "found someone" bit.

It seems like I just don't like being with people in general, but I also get tired of being alone. What to do? :hmm:

never heard of it...
I marked 'happy' in the poll but that does change. I do get scared to ask girls out but it doesn't really matter...I'm only 17. I'm more concerned about college...but it still doesn't ruin my mood.

What's getting me now is that my grandpa has been in and out of the hospital a lot lately, and he's in about the shape my grandmother on my mom's side was right before she died. He just went in again tonight with low oxygen and he was really confused all day long. Not to mention he's the last grandparent I have left.

J. Clarke Richardson, in north Ajax. A boring school in a boring town. What about you?

Graeme

Cool, I'm going to Iroquois Ridge High School. Pretty boring, too safe of a school. Needs more action, like White Oaks :p

Ajax ain't so bad, I used to go up there for weekends when friends, or my brother competed in Judo tournaments.

Oakville, now that is an incredibly boring town. Too many rich people, too. They annoy me :p

I hope he recovers. I'm grateful to have all of my grandparents alive, so I can't even imagine your situation.

True, but when you are way too chicken (like me) to just ask someone out, a relationship may never come again :(

And as for the Major/Career....Same here, bro. I have no clue what I'm going to do. So I'm going to do whatever I can get into, and see if I like it :hmm:

Same thing is happening to a good friend of mine. It makes me really sad to hear that. I really do hope that your grandpa comes out alright, I imagine it would be really tough to see the last one go. :(

Just hang in there, and make it enjoyable for your grandpa to be around, It'll make you feel better.

Life :( Bummer. I love how it's mostly 17 year olds that are ranting.
