I rarely ever go into a GC... not for political reasons, but for logistical reasons. However, I have seen the Markbass stuff ever since they got Jeff Berlin on board and started advertising a bunch, which has been for a while now.

I blew them off on looks alone, and simply treated Jeff's commentary as paid ad copy. They only entered my radar after hearing some TB'ers talk more about real gigging experiences.

Bingo. IME ads don't really sway people and neither do paid endorsers. People who spend their own money on a product OTOH can go a long way, especially if you know that person isn't prone to jumping on every bandwagon that goers by.

FYI for all you bass dudes in Austin, TX. GC North in Austin has been a dealer of Markbass for about a year as well. Personally though...I don't like them. I played a backlined stage at San Antonio's Warp Tour and chose the TA501 with a 106HF cab and found it to be too dirty and lacking volume. They had an SVT there too, and I should chose it (even though I'm a GK head/ampeg cab man myself), but I was curious to rock the Markbass in a live setting. I wasn't happy, but that doesn't mean they aren't cool. I love how light they are, for small gigs and combo settings they're very cool, but if you're a big rig rocker I wouldn't recommend replacing your fridge with it.
Love and Bass.

Too late... some already have;)

This stuff isn't for everyone...with that said, there's a small learning curve with these amps...especially concerning the filters. Those are flat when they're all the way to the left, and it doesn't take much to get some great things out of them. Also, if you're used to eq'ing a specific amps or amps and you start the same way with the MB amps than you're doing them a disservice. Always start with them flat. Anything from there is just salt and pepper. Of coarse, again, some will never like what the amps and cabs do and that's ok. I'd rather people at least know how to use them though before they make judgement (not geared toward you, just in general).

Whoever suggesting using the LMII as a pre for a Berg IP was onto something. I still have my LMII and haven't got a pre yet and it sounds wonderful drving the IP112. I would keep the LM but it seems like a waste of its capabilities to have a such a nice amp as a pre only.
