I am looking for a perfect bass for heavy rock/metal. Ive been playing a crappy fernandes bass for 3-4 years now and need a new bass guitar. I dont care about price range it can be like 1$ to 2000$ so anyone got some suggestions?

Ignore them, On a budget Ibanez SR's are pretty good for rock and Metal. I personally would try out a Warwick Corvette $$, I think you'll find exactly the crushing power and tone your looking for, blend both pickups with both switches down and you'll think the end of the world has arrived! If you do buy a Warwick get the made in germany not the rockbass, rockbass is fine but its not the same, trust me.

Seriously though, just find something that you like (within reason of course). You probably wouldn't want to bring a semi-hollow, but a lot of basses work for a lot of different styles. I was quite suprised/pleased at how well my Pbass V with flats (that I set up for old school funk) fit in at a crunchy almost-metal jam, to many compliments. Huge tone, thundering low end with those Chromes on it.
If Tim Commerford can sport a Jazz bass for Rage Against The Machine and Gerald Veasley can bring an Ibanez SR for smooth jazz stuff, you're probably good with whatever you like. Go to your local music shop, play some basses and pick the one you like.

Lol. Still most fond of BC Rich, Monson, and a few like them for metal. Pup wise, P or soapbar style as fave for metal bass sounds. and it should be black, or a sick green, for finish color. Lol.

Any bass that feels good is good for metal, and everything else. . . You can change the electronics / pickups easily, so get one that feels nice, even if the sound isn't the best, compared to one that doesn't feel good and sound awesome.
You could get a custom Warmouth and build it. You can get any bass, just get the one that feels and sounds nice to you and its going to be the best bass for metal.
