My city actually had a band called Akimbo for many years.
I can't imagine putting a costume on any of my cats. (Wouldn't want to have to explain that at the E.R.)
Sort of related: Years ago my (non-pet-owning) partner came with me to Petco. It was October, so there was a huge display of costumes for dogs. Suddenly my partner cracked up, and I had to ask what was so funny. It was then pointed out to me that with the available costumes, one could outfit an entire doggy Village People.

I have tried to train my cats to do this for me. It hasn't happened yet.
