Ah, yes, the famous cow-tapult!
This is far more historically accurate than you want to believe. Catapulting large animals (though usually deceased ones) was not uncommon, and it's hard to beat the creativity(?) of flinging plague victims' bodies into besieged communities. The latter probably didn't really accomplish spreading the plague, but it no doubt freaked out and disgusted the recipients.
