Stingray = 9 pounds 5 ounces

Thumb 4 bolt on = 7.7 pounds
Thumb 4 neck thru = 10.12 pounds

Dont seem that heavy to me abolt on is 2 pounds lighter than my sterling which is I find a very light bass

Warwick Thumbs are heavy and do have some neck dive. Wear it high with a wide strap and life is better but harder to look cool!

Ha... I always found the opposite to be true. If I see a bass player wearing his bass high, I tend to believe, more often then not, that he knows what he's doing.

Ok... I've read a lot of posts about Warwicks being heavy, and I'm started to get confused. Could someone explain to me why people think this of Warwick basses? I have had three of them, and now own a Thumb NT, and I don't think it's heavy at all. For the size of it, yes, it is heavy, but the body is tiny.

Does anyone know if your standard Fender American Jazz is heavier or lighter than a Warwick Thumb? I swear both of my jazz basses are heavier, and when I pick up my Thumb, I feel like I can twirl the thing around.

Maybe I've just had heavy basses all my life, and have no idea what a light one feels like. And I honestly don't think I could tell a two pound difference.

Could someone explain what all this means? There's a lot of knowledeable people here, and I am astounded at the subtleties that many notice on the bass that I have yet to figure out. Thanks.

My Squier P has a fatter neck. It's a psycological trick in their own minds if you ask me.

They just can't HANDLE a man's bass!

Yeah, there's no way they can ensure a universal weight.

Anyway, the 'wicks I've played (keeping in mind that 1. I don't like Warwick, and 2. I haven't been able to gig with one because I don't own one because I don't like them :breathes were pretty heavy, but that's not that big a deal. I've played heavier and much lighter basses.

My '89 Streamer Ltd. Edition clocks in at 4.2 kg (~9.25 lbs) and balances very nicely.

Previously I've had a '96 Corvette Std 5 (substantial weight but manageable), a '94 Fortress One 5 (excellent balance, OK weight) and a '01 Thumb Bolt-On Maple Monster (quite light, minor neck-dive issues).

I just noticed that I really regret selling the Thumb BO MM. That thing was growly as hell.

No problem. While the weights will vary I would imagine that it would only be by a few ounces.

I got a streamer LX5 which is pretty neck-heavy. But its weight is about equal to my F-Jazz V. I'm keeping the LX cos it's got a killer B
