The Weirdest Song You've Ever Heard?

There's a jazz station in NYC that often plays really good jazz, but sometimes they play off the wall kinda stuff.

They once had a guy live in studio who was essentially playing the violin randomly just bowing across the strings with no apparent melody, harmony or rhythm. After his "performance" they interviewed him about his art for a solid 20 minutes. I don't know if he actually played the violin, but it was a completely serious performance and interview and not meant to be a joke. It was weird.

Also, the Beatles Number 9 is weird...and annoying.

Years ago on the Tomorrow Show I saw Mike Oldfield play this thing that looked like a railroad tie with a long cable on it. (Shade of Pythagoras' monochord experiments?) The thing was vibrating to the energy or something, because he didn't touch it. I always wanted to build one of those. No one on the Mike Oldfield list remembers it or knew what I was talking about. It was weird, but very soothing, trance inducing.

at a new music fest here there was a guy with a recording/looping sort of console,in the center of 3 raises tables spaced around it 15-20 feet out ....his 3 assistants had long chains with lights and a speaker at the end which they swung in a circle over their heads while standing on those tables....the artist programmed his stuff into them from the console as the circling speakers created a cool effect as each neared and moved away from your ears.........

later at his discussion he spoke of a concert on a river bank where he strung some huge cables with some form of pick up,down the bank,like iirc 60 feet or more and induced vibrations.....maybe not so weird now that i think of it but the music i heard was actually very interesting,and i would have liked to see the river concert........not something you could get the full impact from on the stereo at home tho'
