The Who? Superbowl

I don't get the "they did good for their age" mentality. I think you have to judge a performance regardless of the musician's age. I'm a big Who fan and have been for most of my 43 years, but I would not pay to see them perform based on the superbowl show.:hiding:

I've seen Heaven and Hell twice in the last two years. Those guys are just as old as Pete and Roger, and they KILL live (hope Ronnie gets well soon). They would literally blow this version of the Who off the stage. I'm a big fan of the Who as well (and a little older than you), but to me the Who died men Moon died, and went to complete hell when Entwhistle died. Nothing against Pino, but I refuse to see this version of the band and call it the Who. It would be like going to see Kiss with two other guys in Peter and Ace's makeup, which Gene and Paul would never do, right?

I must say that wading through all the negative crap posted in this thread was much more painful than watching the admittedly not greatest performance of the Who's well deserved career.... but hey... it's a 12 minute freakin' Superbowl halftime show, it is supposed to be a television spectacle not a rock concert .... lighten up

I would be surprised if any of the people posting negative comments have ever written one song as good as Townshend's worst song and it is also doubtful that all of us combined have contributed as much to the evolution of rock and roll on our respective instruments as Keith, John or Pete did... really sad to see musicians be so petty, we need to support one another not rip each other to shreds...

Back to the pickups and bass.... T-bird pickups?

Really? I guess we were listening to different broadcasts. To my thinking, Zak captured none of Keith Moon's...well, anything.

Keith Moon's playing style wasn't eccentric or odd, though those were undoubtably personality traits. Granted, it's a unique style that is difficult to play, but Zak came no where near it.

I personally couldn't call Zak's performance 'masterful' under any circumstance and keep a straight face; but to each his own. No offense meant to you because you liked it. I tend to be fairly critical of drummers.:)
