+1 on the wow factor of this one! Very interesting and a very minimal animal! A minanimal, if you will...

So how does that fret/fretless situation work there? are those just markers or are they actually frets? If they are frets, what's the logic behind how their configured?

I've always contemplated a mixed fretless/fretted instrument, but in my mind the configuration would be more along the lines of the B, E and A strings having frets all the way up with the D and G going entirely fretless.

Regardless, that's an inspiring design!
