"Come together" for Paul McCartney did very well for him and I don't thing three anything below the 5th fret on that song.

Awesome story LoL
cool gig too
Not exactly awe inspiringly complex music, I would imagine, so the "boom boom boom" thing is totally awesome. FWIW I used to LOVE bo diddly and his band, I owned 2 or 3 albums of him when he was young and when he was much older
Yes lets ask him.
It's the dumbing of the bass. It sets up the false dichotomy that you either play all root notes or you wank endlessly. And the saddest thing is how many bass players have bought into it.
There's a lot of ground between Dusty Hill and Jaco, but making an interesting bass line that grooves takes time and effort and most people are too lazy to bother. And the industry encourages the dumbing down of musicians because it's faster and most importantly cheaper to record and if everything sounds the same, well who cares?
I had a friend who started taking lessons on double bass at 70. He used to say, "Next week I'm learning 3rd position and then I can start gigging." He wasn't too wrong.A father decided to teach his son to play bass.
On the first day he showed him the E string. "Son, the notes are E, F, F#, G, G#, A, A# and B. Practice for a week and we'll have another lesson."
The next week he showed him the A string. "Son, the notes are A, A#, B, C, C#, D, D# and E. Practice for a week and we'll have another lesson."
The next week he told his son "I'm going to show you the D string this week." His son replied, "Sorry, but I have to go play a gig."
Drum roll, please...
See, looks like a great groove behind the vocals in the verse.
Thank You @dkelleySee, looks like a great groove behind the vocals in the verse.
That, sir, is a description of a feeling that I have associated with that kinda lick quite often, but I never put words to it like that.Thank You @dkelley
I like think there was a good groove behind it...That was a chance for me to mentally masturbate for moment.
