I TiVo a show called "BBC Crown Jewels". It's a one hour show of a live concert from the past.
They just had a Thin Lizzy concert on it last weekend that I just watched last night. Not sure what year or what venue. The only reference I can make is that they played "Jailbreak" and Phil introduced following tunes as "off the new album". They played "Boys Are Back In Town" and referred to it as older tune.
Phil was playing some Fender looking thing with what looked like a soapbar pup in the "Stingray position" and couldn't tell if there was a bridge pup since he plays with a pick and had his hand over the bridge most of the time. Anyhow, his tone is KILLING!!!
Could not see his bass rig at all on stage. But dang was his tone awesome and very prominent in the mix!
This is the first time I've seen live footage of Thin Lizzy. I was pretty impressed by the band overall and especially with Phil's playing and singing at the same time.
I'm was too young to know who they were when they were popular, but I've always liked "Boys Are Back In Town". Fun as heck song to play on bass. After seeing that concert I'm going to have to listen to more of their stuff!
