Thin room-sound

Maybe someone can talk me through this...
Yesterdays gig was awesome - low-profile stage so we were able to walk through the audience and mosh in our very own mosh-pit (that's ****ing awesome).
But as I stood there I notice that my bass sound was getting thinner and thinner with every half meter I went further away from stage. And that is something I cannot figure out...
My bass-sound on stage is cool, but 2 meters further, it's nothing more than a thin something that really has troubles to get heard.
Anybody has experience with this??

Amp: Traynor YBA 300
Cab: Ashdown ABM 410

Was your bass run through the PA? If not your stage rig has to carry the room. A 2x15 cab paired with the 4x10 would do wonders imho.

Hmja... I have to admit I had the Master of the amp between 1 and 2 (out of 10). I had a feeling it would be way too loud on stage.
I never had a chance to actually hear us playing fromout the audience room, so this is new to me.
Is it normal that the bass sound gets that thin when you do not adjust master volume OK? I thought it would simply disappear

The more lows in your EQ, the farther it will travel. I had the opposite experience in a very long room. I was the loudest one at the back so I put in more highs and mids and rolled the bass way back. That completely fixed the problem.

How close to a wall/boundary was your bass amp? 3 1/2 feet is 1/4 wave length of 80hz. If you are 3 1/2 feet from a side and back wall you get a lot of 80hz cancelation.

This is why sub woofers should be close to a wall or center clustered. Close to the wall gives you boundary coupling.

they set up the stage in the middle of the room. No wall behind it or next to it (10 meters space behind and about 5 meter left and right) - more or less we were in the centre of the room. The Sound on stage for me was awesome but it felt like my amp cannot deliver the sound I hear n stage (around 1-2 meters from the amp) into the room.
Am I the only one always having the feeling it doesn't sound like it should sound???
