Things bassist hate, Part 2

I am pretty mellow but here are my peeves:
1) When someone is trying to talk and people are noodling and not listening...gets on my last nerve!
2) Just because I like to use an Ampeg PF 500 head and 1x15 cabinet does not mean I don't know how to play..it is my choice.....

When the bassist from the opening band inexplicably shows up to the gig with neither a rig nor a direct box and expects to use your rig and then has the audacity to put an open beer on top of it!

Ha! I think I know that guy :)

And I am sorry to bash guitarists but....from a previous band I was part of for a while the guitarist, who played a Gibson Les Paul, would ALWAYS have the toggle up-using only the neck pickup cranked through a Marshall half stack with the 'bass' knob cranked also.

...That left little room for any bass frequencies coming from my Ric 4001. When I tried to explain this to him he would put his guitar down and sit down and pout with his head down. Really?!?

Actually being FORCED to change out my flats for fresh rounds… ugh:mad:
Told to play root notes and not to "mess with the rhythms.'':roll eyes:

When guitards mess with my amp settings ("your tone is too boomy"; "you use too much mids.").

Drummers with bad timing (means I have to do it):hiding:

When your guitarist says "play what I play"

When the band members tell me that my slides and chords are way too loud, even though my guitarist is at 13 on his amp:mad:

When you say you play an instrument to someone, and when you say you play the bass they respond with "what's that" or "oh" and just get uninterested.

Are my top 3

Band mates who think bass guitar doesn't need any effects, and overdrive in particular.

For some rock songs I like the extra "bite" of mild overdrive. But every time the drummer complains about the "strange" sound of the bass. We recently got a new drummer, and he is really experienced. But yesterday he commented on the "weird" bass sound.

Argh! I'd like to have some sound shaping options beside mild EQ and volume, thank you.

Well if everyone saying the same thing...just a though my friend..

Well, we all know what flies eat and that they outnumber us. That doesn't mean that they are universally right about food choice. The existence of overdrive pedals for bass and the many bassists that use them is to me an indication that I am not wrong, just because old school drummers expect old school bass guitar. And no, the songs in question are not old school.

LMAO!
