Things bassists LOVE!

Amateur Bassist: Soloist, Recording Artist
I saw the "Things bassists hate" thread and thought it'd be a good idea to write one up on what bassists love.

So here's my list:

-when people acknowledge that it is a bass guitar, not a guitar.
-when people realize it has a purpose
-the fat sound of it that makes people want to dance
-great communities of bassists(ex. TB)

Add to it and enjoy!:smug:

I love when the good strings go on sale!
ampeg 8X10 cabs FTW
35" scale basses
drummers who dont count time with their hats
playing with true professionals(meaning learn it and show up to the gig!)

A. The feel when I'm driving the bus with a really good drummer, and guitarists and keyboard players who listen to the WHOLE band.
B. The good sound guys out there, and there's a LOT more than some whining prima donnas on TB seem to realize...
C. Leo Fender
D. James Jamerson, Jack Bruce, Duck Dunn, et. al.
E. Any well written song, much more important than arrangement, performance, etc. The SONG is first priority.
F. Being able to NOT have to play Skynyrd
G. The way my favorite basses sound in a good room
H. The way my fretted Lakland 4-94's neck feels and the way my '83 Fender Vintage Series '62 Precision neck feels
I. Being able to control the band without seeming to- that subtle power is perfect
