Nothing like un-burned gasoline, and carbon monoxide, to really give your food that unique flavor!!
Obviously tourists, were thought to be a scourge upon the land, and killing them off, was a viable option!
We would just put our lunch on the truck manifold half hour before noon. The acetylene torch was best for pizza!

Here in Tucson, several of my friends use their car for lunch too. No, not like this but rather, by placing their food on the dash of their car for about an hour...the summer heat (100-115) and the closed car makes the food STEAM in a short while.
I can't imaging the mischief that would produce these days. These used to blaze through the night around my house while they were building the subdivision back in the early 1960's.

Yep, last time I saw them was when they dug up the center of all the streets in our neighborhood to install sewers back in the Summer of (IRRC) '61. We kids had a lot of fun in those trenches in the evenings and smelled those smudge spots overnight for the weeks they worked. I remember my father had a hard time finding a place to park.

I wonder if there is room to get one of those down an aisle these days.
