I was actually related to Joe Walker of X-15 fame. Never met him, but IIRC, he was a cousin of my grandmother.

That’s cool. Those guys had nerves of steel! I was thinking if an X-15 was going Mach 7 and I plucked a bass string the X-15 would be 7 times faster then the sound of the note. Crazy stuff!

Back in the day, seeing this instrument would not have interested me. After all, I did not see anyone use one on stage. The Beatles did not use them. It wasn't one of the major brands out there (Fender, Gibson, Gretch, etc...
Probably was a pretty legit instrument.
A lot of the lesser known Asian brands tried to cram an awful lot of goodies on it for a razzle-dazzle visual effect such as:

Who knows what this could have sounded like plugged into a Marshall stack set on 11.

That reminds me of my first guitar. An Audition guitar (made by Japanese guitar company Teisco) from Woolworth's Department Store similar to this one. I got it for my 10th birthday and it cost my mother $35, which was quite a bit back then. This guitar got me into a band and I switched to bass when our bass player quit in 1970. The best move I and the rest is history. I have never been out of work since then.

My first electric 6 string guitar was from Woolworth's as well.
A whopping $50. Not sure what brand it was. Kent maybe?
The first acoustic 6 string was from Montgomery Ward, an Airline at $15.
It served us well.
My bro took it with him into the navy and it managed to come back home with him. He could play the suckah chord-melody finger pickin' style kinda like Chet Atkins. I've no idea what eventually happened to it. I did see one exactly like it in a commercial on TV recently. It was used as a wall hanging.

I had a guitar in my late teens that had a million switches on it. 3 (I believe) single coils and a whammy bar. Seeing these has me thinking that it might not have been an Ibanez as I had believed for many years.

I remember we had the 1st color TV in our neighborhood and the Flintstones was one of the 1st color shows on TV. Our living room was packed with neighbors and if you look at the bright colors they used in the Cartoon it was magical back then. Johny Quest was another great cartoon and Adam West’s Batman was and still is imho the best. They also used saturated color.
