Kinda don't mind some things not being seen any more.
After spending most of my paycheck on booze and women and blowing the rest of it, I bought generic cat food for my "eat anything" cat. She would rather starve than eat it. After that, I had no intention of trying any other generic products.

Actually, I think this is the generic era. Most store brands are the equal of, and in fact made by, major companies. Aldi's Very Cherry Ice cream is almost a Cherry Garcia clone, which I actually prefer. I think my wife buys almost 50% store brands, and she is picky.
You "don't see them" because this did not exist. There's not enough room for the cassette's cover flap to lift up, never mind the tape transport mechanism. "Worth1000" was a photoshop site. It's a pretty good fake, but fake nonetheless.

I'm not. They would have been bulky beyond reason. Think of any VHS player you ever had, then add a screen (not a modern screen, but one of the thicker laptop screens concurrent with the era) on top of that. VHS tapes were hardly the most travel-friendly things anyway. Now throw in the vibration and jarring from handling and movement, which would make the useful life of these things (even just in theory) vanishingly short. With the expense that would be incurred in producing them, not many people would have been inclined to replace them as often as they would have had to.
The idea wouldn't have made it out of any serious brainstorming session.
YES!!! I was the first (nay, only) only kid on our road with a headlight on my bike!
The first time I went out with it, the other kids thought it was weird to see a light mounted on the handlebar, since it was daylight out. (These, of course, were the days of summers when everyone stayed out on our own until the sun was down far enough for it to start getting truly dark.) As everyone started to talk about it being time to go home, I told them to watch what happened, and hit the release for the spring to drop the generator onto the tire. I took a few laps up and down the road with a beam of light out in front of me, and the figurative "light bulbs" went on over the heads of the other kids.
It was also fun to have a little bit of working "science" attached to my bike.
