This one wasn’t cumbersome at all, unfortunately I got it when I was out of town, the picks were no longer made, and I bought it thinking it a novelty, but got home and loved it, I should have bought more.

Broke the leg off one of those as a kid, it wasn’t mine. Maybe it was old
I didn't know Fisher-Price ever made anything that sophisticated (relatively speaking).

A quick Google search says these toys debuted in 1983. I'd be a little disappointed if I found out these toys were around when I was a kid, and I didn't know about them!

Yeah, we had station wagons with the opposing seats and the rear view seats..
Looks like Fisher Price discontinued it in 1988 and Mattel revived the Construx name in 1997 and 2017. Yeah, I only briefly heard of them in the 80s and never followed up until recently. They looked cool.
