My level: I played bass back in my home country a few years ago. Had performed 5 songs in total on 3 different occasions over the years. Not a total newbie, but apparently still at beginner’s level.
My intention: Pick up playing bass again. Play the songs I like at home alone (with the original music playing). Practice and prepare for joining a band.
My goal: Join a band with people I feel comfortable playing with and vice versa.
A few examples of musicians with the songs I want to play:
Stevie Wonder, Fourplay, Santana, Van Morrison
Things I’m looking for in the instrument: I don’t really need anything fancy. The bass must be doing “ok” for the common styles (rather than being superb at some styles, but trashy at some other styles). I just need a standard, classic, or say, “orthodox”, or even say, “boring” bass. I want a “safe” option.
Budget: Up to 2000 for the bass alone, if it is worthwhile.
For now, I’m thinking about buying a “Fender American Professional II Precision”. But I just want to hear your advice. Thanks
