Thinking of a G&L JB2 or Stingray

Well I'm seriously thinking of selling off the Thumb,I've had a few probs. with the volume pot( replaced twice )and find myself playing the Geddy all the time,I'd love another jazz but The few G&L s I've played seem to be better than any of the American Series Fenders,I seem to be favouring a passive sound although I love the sound ,playability, and build quality of The 'Rays ,my main concerns with the 'rays are.neck stability and preamp reliablity over time, what i like about the JB is you get kinda a custom order jazz with a 10year warranty,downside seems to be lousy resale, I know a lot of guys are going to say go with the L2k but they are a little more $$ than what I want to pay. any insight would be appreciated . cheers

I just wondere 'cause they don't use graphite rods or quarter sawn or? that alot of other manufacturers seem to use.It seems that EB,G&L and Rick are the best of the mass produced American Basses,for me it's down to the 'ray or a JB2 the JBs are impossible to find to compare.

The JB-2 and the L2000 are comparably priced. Both typically list at around $1200 new.

Very different animals but if you like the passive J sound a Ray isn't gonna do that nor is a JB-2 gonna have the bite of a Ray.

Either are fine basses. IMHO the best part of the JB-2 is it doesn't have the funky offset body like the Fender, and all the other Jazz clones, which for me is an ergonomic nightmare.

Ya I realize they are completly diiferent animals, I just happen to like both and either one would sit in the mix better than my thumb, I want this next bass to be it(famous last words)last me awhile. Lug Up here the L2ks are 2-300 bucks more than the JB2

That's odd. I believe G&L charges aproximately the same for either and almost all the online stores I find have them either the same price or within a couple-o-bucks of each other.
