Thinking of upgrading Jazz Bass pickups...

These are my choices after heavy research

Dimarzio DP149 jazz bass set
Fender Custom Shop 60s pickups
Fender N3 Noiseless jazz bass pickups

Not a fan of EMGs or Seymour Duncans so don't suggest those.
Does anyone have these in their jazz basses? If so, what's the sound like?

I can't offer you any help on those. Two that I do use and like are the Nordstrand NJ-4's, and for noiseless, the DiMarzio Area J's.

+1 on the NJ-4's. Out of those CS 60's.

Dunno if it's right for you, but I'm rather liking my Fender Super 55. It's a split-coil pickup in a Jazz configuration. I have one in the bridge position of a PJ project I did earlier this year.

Those are 10 times better than the ones us mortals have access to.

I hear they're very very hot pickups. Hahahah and produce a lot of sound considering they're passive pickups.

The 60s CS are nice and plump, but the 600's must be searing hot.

Have you thought about Fenders new pickups?

Don't like the DP149, they sound off to me.
CS60 are good but my set was wound loosely and they went microphonic after a few weeks of use. Could use better wax potting.

Favorite passive pickup: NJ4SV from Nordstrand or:


EMG JVX!!!! only slightly kidding because they are my favorite J pickups, check them out

Out of the pickups you have listed, the only ones I have experience with are the Fender N3's which are a stacked hum canceling pickup, and have pretty low output. They sound ok, but I wouldn't really recommend them.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, my recommendation would be Rio Grande, Muy Grandes. They are voiced like a vintage pickup with a lot more output. They are single coils, so they are noisy with the bridge or neck pickup soloed, so that may be a problem if you are looking for noiseless pickups.

I had the Muy Grandes in a 51 reissue p-bass, they are thummpin hot. Your speaker cones jump out and kick you.
