SBO 2022 Third Time's a Charm -- FusionBird (A)

Alright, let's see if I can actually finish this one this time!
I originally started this one in the 2019 WBO, then tried to finish it in the Special Edition Buildoff. Which brings us here:

I'm calling this an assembly build; all I really need to do is to prep the surface again, and paint it. I also need to make a new pickguard. I recently acquired a HipShot D-Type bridge which I may use in place of the tune-o-matic style that I originally planned to use.

Decided to put a hard bevel on the cutaways

Next step will be a white sealer coat to serve as a base for the pearl blue.

Were you using Createx paints on this? I like the silver sealer under candies and non-opaque colors. You can mix other colors or TransTints into it to get a color keyed metallic bass.

Yeah, I'm using Createx paints. I'll look at getting silver sealer in that case.

I don’t remember which video but Chris Arpin mixed up some tinted silver sealer for under a candy top coat in a recentish video.

Silver sealer applied to the neck, I'm going to have to wait to do the body until I get another bottle of silver sealer.

Made a new pickguard, just need to bevel and rout out the opening for the neck pickup.

Yeah, I picked the pearl blue to work with the bevels, and the additional bevels to work with the pearl blue

Third Time's a Charm -- The Fusion Bird Bass

Weight: ~ 7 Lbs.

Shape is a fusion of the Guild JetFire (Upper bouts and beveling) and non-reversed Thunderbird (lower bouts and headstock) Third time trying to get it finished in time, actually did at last!.
