This 9-volt battery compartment door design should be discontinued

Whether it's the 'bot' watchers, or the mod thread observers ....I address mild harassment towards myself from other users here by remaining inactive and avoiding conflict as I watch the 'Wheel Of Mis-identification' repeatedly getting butchered with continuous flawed guessing. In the meantime, I have only been paying attention to the opinions that matter from legitimate commentors who have expressed an interest in topics I have presented for discussion. Not in those who have opposed it. In my judgement, is it really a requirement to research similar existing threads that are archived with comments that are over 800 pages long and going back years before I decide to create a new similar thread? What would you do, sir? You have my undivided attention.....
Spamming redundant "What's your favorite" "What's the worst" "What's the best" "Don't ever" "This or That" threads all day is, at best, engagement farming.

I understand you weren't on for a while and you're here now. I would suggest reading the room on this one if you want to be a part of this community. I hope you find your rhythm.

I have read the room and a third of it has been 'disturbing' to say the least. All I've read is baseless accusations and insults. That's all they care about, trying to play the angle game if I'm a bot, a hacked account, etc. I'm not going to mention any names as their insufferable comments regarding that issue have successfully lived down to my expectations, thus far. They are clearly trolling my threads. I haven't gone on any of their threads and trashed the OP, or their commentors, however, they feel that it is completely acceptable to produce off-topic jabs at me on my threads because they are still trying to 'figure me out'. I know that they clearly have nothing originally of their own accord to add, that's why they pick and choose any quote made by me to take out of context. Their mentality dictates to them that they think I'm some kind of pushover,....well perish that thought.

The only reason I'm back is because I had lost my old login info, but recovered it only a few months ago via an old flash drive I had in the back of my desk. That's all. I wasn't going to create a duplicate account. I am not not seeking trouble here. I'll admit that I may have posted too many threads at a rapid pace and plan to ease off. However, I have no intention of researching through over 800 pages of comment threads on a particular subject just to investigate whether someone has, might have, could have, think they have already posted a thread on the same topic in question. Some of the people I use to comment with here that I had great respect for years ago are no longer living. The late Nick Smith, for one. I had only found out recently that he had passed away earlier this year. I saw one of his basses on Reverb several months ago from his collection that was an estate sale. It was an Ashley-Pangborn that he custom-ordered 40 years ago. I actually considered buying that bass, however, finding parts for it would have been a daunting task regarding original components as that company went out of business decades ago.

Just chiming in as a repair luthier-! Will echo the OP’s points on these particular battery hatches as being prone to failure. I’ve seen a handful over the years, and it’s always this specific model. Broken wires. Bad terminal contact (those little copper leaf spring terminals are weak and easily bent out of shape) and in some cases a bad hinge point. They have to fit very freely/loosely in the route - any pinching or binding against the sides at all will make them not operate correctly.
I don’t like this style and prefer to use other kinds where the wires don’t move during operation.

TL;DR - OP is correct, these things do fail in the field. I have to fix them often enough.

Thank you, sir. I re-wired plenty of these myself and it puzzles me why a known flawed design like that is being installed on high-end basses in particular.
This is the only solid design that I use.
The compartment is stationary. Power sources are not suppose to flex.

My apologies if I've made too much sense.
Many users have literally infested my threads pitching mostly baseless allegations against myself which IS a form of user harassment. If you live in a glass house, then I would highly suggest that you shouldn't cast the first stone.
Oh, good grief. One man's rebuttal is another man's harassment......?

And at 67 years old and self-employed that whole time in the music business, I'll live in whatever house keeps me warm and dry.

And judging by your responses, I hope your house is a bomb shelter. You apparently need that based on your original post and subsequent responses.

And you did miss one point I made....when I said this in my first comment....

"You're not wrong".....

Harassment?

Fair enough....

I'm about to measure the voltage of the batteries that came in my new Stingray Special. Gotta swing that Music Man-badged Gotoh door open to do so. It's maintenance, not harassment......

So hide your eyes. You've been warned......😁

Dude....

You would have done your case a world of good if you had included this pic and description in your original post.

I'm actually interested in this style of box.

Now will you do the community a favor and list the maker and model of this box? And where it might be found.

I doubt would retro-fit into my Special, but it's certainly worth a look.

And thank you.

Seriously......

I will take that under advisement, my apologies for any misinterpretations.
I can dish out plenty as much as I can take it.
I can only extend the olive branch, not put it in your hand for you.

Good day to you and Merry Christmas, sir.

Same here. Same to you. And thanx.

Might there be a 2-battery compartment in the style of that last battery box you posted the pics of?

Thanx!

Sure, no problem. Amazon has them.
They are labeled as "KAISH 9V Battery Cover Battery Box Case Compartment for Active Guitar Bass"
(Battery Case Model 1)
They are $9 each. I order these in bulk, usually around 10.
I try to order in bulk as I am always paranoid that something will be discontinued if I wait too long too buy it..
(I only know because it's happened to me too many times)

For future reference, there's a "forgot password" link on the login page where you enter your email address and they send you a password reset link.
I finally did reset the password after I got back in.
Thanks for the tip.

(Did your account name come from the Japanese monster t.v. show 'Space Giants'?,...
if so, cool!)

As are in my active basses.

I gotta admit, I change batteries every 4 months or so. I practice a good bit and average 3-4 gigs a months and rehearsals here and there.

So my Gotoh battery boxes may be prone to problems sooner than some.

But I think one in 8 years is not bad, considering the use and convenience.
Yeah, I def should have qualified that I'm not in the norm when it comes to battery change over. I've got something like 26 or 27 basses that I rotate, so none of the batteries really get a lot of mileage, despite a moderate to heavy gigging schedule

Ahh, I see! 27?? Wow, I couldn't keep up with that (but I'd love to try!.....🤣)

I'm down to one bass that is my daily driver. That's seriously all I want these days.

My other active bass is a Squier 6-string that I put an Audere preamp in just for fun, which was a big help! But it hasn't gone out on a gig yet. It may see some action now since it will be my "spare".

I have 40 something, and twice a year I'll go thru them with a battery tester. That being said, I have a half dozen or so basses that see more regular gigging, and even they don't need a change that often.

It's bizarre sometimes when I come to the top of the rotation and realize I haven't played that bass in months
