This 9-volt battery compartment door design should be discontinued

I'm coming up on battery day. I usually just change them all at the new year, though I skipped last year, so this will be two years on these 9v and they're still kicking. To be fair -

I don't think any one of my basses gets more than 12 hours of play a year.

anyway yeah, i despise that 45Ā° swivel-up 9V box, and see more of those broken and failed than any other type. a bunch of tiny, fragile plastic moving parts is just not a good idea, especially when a failure means you just don't get to play that bass that night

the flat-mount type @Mowac showed is indeed easier to use with less stress on fragile plastic and no wire movement. hell, you could accidentally break the lid right off of it and still slap in a battery with gaff tape and finish the show

allparts sells one that's similar but more basic, you just feed in a regular 9V clip

i don't play active basses but if i did and wanted a battery door, for me it would either be the old-school music man type with the metal plate and two machine screws, or if i wanted it to be fancy the ESP all-metal box that looks like the ashtray out of a '74 dodge dart

Stuff wears out over time. No way around that, but at least resoldering or even putting in a new battery box is a lot easier than refretting a neck.

Just being alive doesn't last very long. In the long run, we are all dead.

Along the way, bad things develop like prostate enlargement which SURROUNDS the urethra. What kind of design is that?

Yes, it did, actually. Somehow back in the early 80s, I acquired the name "rodak", I don't know why or how. I was not a big Space Giants fan, although I found them amusing. My brother was "Beldar" (kind of like Goldar, but a conehead from Remulak ;-), and we used to say "I am Beldar... I am Rodak...We are... Space Giants!".

Ahh, the fun of youth!

Thanks. I went through quite a bit this year. Not cancer, but it still sucked. Biopsies, catheter, stent in my Kidney. Im much better now, almost normal. I will say: Medical insurance is the most important thing later in life isnt it?
So much Tax money we working people paid our whole lives, we should have the best free healthcare on the planet! I know,
thats probably taboo.
