This cracked me up.

Having read Groom's book prior to the movie being made, i get the attempts at irony and satire, but why just the southern accents in the movie? Why not make all the dialog a parody of itself?

Oh and BTW, who is vampire Bill?
A character on True Blood HBO series. There are a few other rough accents but Vampire Bill "vamps" his accent up a bit at times.

DOH!! I watched part of the first season with wifey. She's a big fan but it completely failed to blow my dress up in any way. Forgot all about ole Bill.

It was a good story but the accents were awful. Little kid on the bus telling Forrest "you can't sit here" sounded like a down east yankee and most of the rest of the southern accents were worse.
I'm fairly sure all the kids in the beginning were actual southerners. I think I saw that in a "making of" kinda thing about the movie. The young Forrest definitely was. In an interview, Tom Hanks talked about how he modeled his accent from the kid. The kid on the bus probably had a legit southern accent but lots of kids are just terrible actors.

Maybe they just had an awful dialog coach.

I hated Jenny.

Remember, her character was a victim of long term physical and sexual abuse as a child. In reality, these kids are many times more likely to grow up to be promiscuous and unfaithful, very often becoming involved with abusive partners.

I felt pity for Jenny and loved how she straightened out her life before her past caught up with her.

That's what the writer wanted, but I just saw her as a broken person who returned to Forrest, and basically took advantage of his simple nature to finish out her days w/o being alone.
It wasn't all that bad for Forrest, but that's just how I saw it. Yes, I am as cynical as they come.

She was a user. Sure, she had an awful childhood. But that's a factor, not an excuse for her behavior. At least in the end she arranged for a good life for her kid.

Ok, so he's Payton, scorer of the dramatic winning touchdown. Kinda witty if the other team's supporters are predominantly black, I guess.

If you don't get it, you just don't get it. I guess you had to understand the overtones that Beyoncé was going for, in the middle of the stupid bowl. So Peyton is now sorry for crashing her Black Panther party. I think it's kind of funny.

I think you two are reading a lot more into this meme than is necessary. More power to you, I guess, but I think you're taking it or making it more inflammatory than it has to be.
