That's a different bass. Look at the pattern on the top (for instance, between the pickups). This one is older, I'm almost positive.

My best guess on the jack is that there were stress cracks (I got some on mine), and subsequently, a botched "repair" job by someone other than Jens, given that there's a tint in the original "piano burst" finish and not in the repair.

That is a pretty easy fix.. a good luthier can make that look as if it never happened at all... Jimmy at guitarboutique.com has fixed headstocks with far far worse break and splintering and all and you would never know that it was broken.. that is a real easy one to do... but still costly for to get someone to do it right.
its like claypools rainbow bass....it didnt have the top gorn to begin with, but just looking at it you couldnt tell it was a later addiditon

That bass looks totally raged on! How does somthing like that happen? That has to be a $5000 bass. I need to play with some puppies or something to shake those images.

"Item is sold as is" is basic seller code for "I am selling something that does not work." You never buy ANYTHING that's sold "as is", because testing whether it works is not exactly hard.

Well, taking a closer look at it I'd vouch for falling from the back of a truck going fast. Something like that. Upon chock the cavity surrounding the output jack probably couldnt take a direct hit on the jack itself and broke open when that happened. Maybe he just wanted to be a rock star and smashed the bass or something
