This is weird, but...

...have you ever noticed that Ibanez seems to pay more attention to the consruction and setup of their cheaper instruments?

Once again, I was in the local shop (not Guitar Center), I tried a bunch of Ibanez basses, including a brand new Prestige SR 5 with a spalted maple top (the construction exception), and one of the cheapest ones-an SRX500, sounded the best, AND played the best. It's action totally blew away everything else, even the Prestige, and only set me back a little over 400 bucks! The Prestige actually had some of the worst action amung the group, but was the most attractive.

Has anyone ever played this little gem of a bass (SRX500)? I've had some nice basses, one being a Modulus Q5, and my new SRX500 sounds every bit as good. First I fell in love with a Fender Jazz 24 (yeah, a FENDER-I hate Fender), now this-it's weird, just weird, but I like it.:bassist:

Actually, the Prestige may well have been the superior instrument. Your judgments seem to be based on the bass' setup in the store. If you run into another poorly setup bass at a shop, just ask if they can tweak it so you can get a good idea of what it's really like. It won't cost you anything.
