I'm playing Sadowsky black label tonight, and they sound awesome! I'm playing a light gage, maybe .040/.100.

Also keep in mind what makes the TI flats "low tension" is they are round core, which is more "flexible/pliable" than hex core.

What alternatives to TI flats are there when it comes to low tension strings then? The only thing I don't like about their strings, the ones for short scale is the gauge. I find it weird that G-D-A are quite even, and then there is that much more heavy E-string. I just got a medium scale bass and would like to find a great flat string with low tension close to TI's. It would have to measure over 32" between ball and silk then. The TI's for short scale does that. Also DR Legend I've hear, although I don't know how they are as a string. Any suggestions?

A medium scale bass (32" scale) would require strings with around 34" in winding length (ball end to silk). TI "short scale" is 35.5" in winding length (ball end to silk).

If you want to try a "low-tension" flatwound set, Duplop Flats 40-100 in "medium scale" (34" ball end to silk) might fit the bill. They are hex-core, but the small diameter of the core wire makes them flexible.

DR Legends in "short scale" would also fit a medium-scale bass fine as the winding length is longer than most at 33.5" from ball end to silk.

EDIT: I fortgot to mention DR Legends "short scale" only come in 45-65-85-105.

Dunlop flats. They are really bright when new but go super dead like a more trad flat.
