Those accursed barrel jacks...

...that loosen up internally, and start spitting out your guitar cord at inopportune moments.

Well: it had come to replacement time with my beloved Cirrus, and instead of re-using the same poorly engineered part, I got an electrosocket and a stereo Switchcraft jack. Bored the hole out to 7/8", starting with a Unibit to keep it centered, and finished with a 7/8" Forstner bit. Grabs the plug like nobody's business, now!

as a tele player, i know all about how electrosockets are most excellent!

the trick is to put the jack in with no lock washer; it'll stick up just far enough for a right-angle cable plug to clear.

oh, and yeah, barrel jacks are shite.

I'd seen that posted before, but since I wanted it tight, tight, tight!, I went with the star washer. I only use a straight Switchcraft Magical Shut-Off cable, have been for 20 or so years...

oh, and yeah, barrel jacks are shite

Don't even get me started...anything loosens up, I pull the electrosocket & bend the contacts a little, or worst case, buy another $3 stereo jack.
