Our guitar player is pretty handy with a solder iron. He made me a "one in and three out" splitter box than I plug my bass strait in to. All three amps are running separately. None are running "slave" to any of the others.

I can go "preamp out" of one head into the splitter and then into "power amp in" on the other two if I wanted one head (and one volume knob) to control all three.

I typically set up tones and volume levels in one head and have the house mic that one. I adjust the other one (or two) for what I want to hear on stage. Usually with a little less bottom end because of the resonance of the large plywood stage I was on last Saturday.

Do you tune them differently? Is one a 5 string? I guess I'm newer at this cause I don't see why have the exact same bass on stage.

Not tuned differently and both 4 stringers. Both have SPB-3 Quarter Pounders and Hipshot Drop tuners. The second bass is for "just in case". I have no planned bass changes in our set.

I'm actually moving to Tampa so now I have an excuse to buy another Ampeg rig so I can have one in Tampa and one in Orlando. Currently I have an svt classic rig from 07. What do you guys think, another classic rig or go for the vintage reissue? Of course this all depends on what craigslist has to offer.

Heritage At least for the cab. Flip a coin for VR or CL, but with the Heritage cab, the Heritage head looks most awesome.

What do you guys think, another classic rig or go for the vintage reissue? Of course this all depends on what craigslist has to offer.

From what I have read, the VR is superior to the CL. I've personally never been able to put a VR to the test, but the CL never seemed to have all gooey tubiness that I'm used to. I will say that a USA made CL is probably the best $800-$900 you can spend for a used amp off of Craigslist.

Yea I have a guy off Craigslist willing to sell me his SVT VR for $900 right now. It's a little beat up cosmetically but I don't mind that. Just care about how it plays and condition of the tubes.

I used to feel that way too, but if you turn the master on the CL up all the way and use gain for volume, it behaves surprisingly like a VR or vintage head, and YMMV but I think the sound is right on to the VR.

That sounds about right. I was never a fan of the gain and master volume setup. Too many variables...

I like one knob that says "volume" and if you wanted some bark, you turned it up until it started to bark.
