Thoughts on Gibson Thunderbird

I gas for a Tbird from time to time. One thing I don't get is that whenever I see them offered new it seems like they are kitted out with modern looking plastic PUPs and black satin hardware. I would think half the appeal of these would be the massive 60's vibe so where is the new stock version with the old school brass/nickel looking hardware and pickups? Does it not exist or am I just missing it?

+100

I've said this a few times here that I don't get why Gibson doesn't do a 63/64 reissue decked out in chrome. I was hoping for the 50th anniversary they might but instead all we got was gold paint. :rollno:

You're hitting the nail square on the head......

I really wish Gibson would at least offer this as an option - In most cases black hardware doesn't cut it for me :)

Everything is sexier in chrome ;)

I wanted to know how many people play it with the strap over the front. Just saw a few pics on this page where the strap is not in the front. I can't see how you can play it like this. It pulls forward a lot. It is quite confortable with the strap holding the front though.

Late response here, but though it does tend to tip forward, a cotton strap that doesn't slide pretty much fixes that.
