Double Bass Thoughts on intermediate pieces?

I'm an intermediate bassist (about ABRSM grades 5-6) and I have a small recital/assessment at the end of the month. During the last recital, I played C Webster's Scherzo, however I got a negative comment from my teacher regarding the skill level of the piece. I'm determined to prepare a better piece and a better performance for the next assessment, however I'm not too sure about what pieces I could play. I don't think I should play an advanced piece I could possibly butcher, I'd rather pick a piece more suited to my level and play it well. Would "The Elephant" be considered 'too easy' of a piece? What about Dragonetti's Three Waltzes, or Schumann's Lento (transcribed for cello), any thoughts?

Thank you, your opinions are much appreciated.
