Thread closed and I don't know why

I was following a thread titled "Is there a Plectrum Pedal?" which was suddenly closed for no apparent reason -- or at least no reason that was apparent to me.

I generally respect mods' decisions to close threads for various reasons, but I am perplexed as to why this one was. I'd like to know the explanation if possible.

More generally, I think Mods' decisions to close threads should always include (as they usually, but not always) do, and explanation as to why.

Rules were broken. The offensive posts were removed. The topic was deemed moot in its thread category, or simply in general. The thread now falls to obscurity like all those other closed theads. .

And, instead of questioning mod actions in an open thread, thereby possibly violating more rules, it's likely better to PM the mod in the applicable thread category.

The best thing about your thread @Lobster11 is to learn that there was ever such a thread like the one you mention closed. It's topic is hilarious!

To be clear, I am not questioning the mod's decision or action. Any offensive posts must've been removed before I saw them, and without those I didn't think it was silly at all.

In cases like this I think it would be useful for the mod to include a final post, before closing the thread, briefly explaining why -- not because they need to justify their decision, but just as a service for those of us who are easily confused.
