Double Bass Threaded inserts for EUB neck fitting

I'd appreciate some advice from any passing luthiers or EUB self-builders.

I'm going to build an EUB using a regular Chinese DB neck - already bought - with the heel cut-down, and a slab (but chambered) body that will be around 2 1/2" thick, made from a piece of mahogany I already have capped with whatever I find that I like. The neck joint will be similar to a Fender g**tar - a pocket routed in the slab body into which the cut-down heel fits. The back of the pocket will be shaped to become part of the heel. I'm contemplating using threaded inserts set in the maple neck with bolts passing through the back of the body to secure the neck, instead of screws as typically used on Fender g**tars and the like.

Would a pair of Invalid Link Removedinserts, located one above the other, with M8 bolts and washers suffice for this job? Or would I be better off with more (and possibly smaller - M6) fixings, and or with a neck plate like the aforementioned Fender g**tar?

Thanks in advance, chaps :)

Adrian

Dont know about sitting one on top of the other, you may have trouble getting the threads to match (if i picture this correctly). (Pics would help hint...hint)
But Threaded inserts are used extensively now so i dont see why not.
Try posting the question in Luthiers Corner where you might get more response?

Cheers Ian.

I didn't explain myself very well. What I meant was that I'm thinking about just using two fairly hefty fixings, both on the bass' centre line - as against the four smaller screws in rectangle configuration as would be seen with a typical bolt-on neck on an electric guitar or bass guitar.

How's your current build coming on?

How about a compromise ....3 hefties in a triangular formation?
I would be more tempted to catch the Neck nearer the edges and not just down the centre line if possible. Have a look at the Azola Ambassador.

Im just diddling away at mine only got a few hours in last weekend. Hopefully get more done this weekend.
