through neck jazz bass?

I’ve never seen a neck through that looked like a Jazz.
All I’ve seen had a different body and head stock look.
I wouldn’t mind having a neck through jazz clone.

pretty sure spector makes some basses with j/j config and neck through.
not really a "jazz bass" though. are you looking for a traditional fender like jazz or just a bass with j/j config?

It depends on what you want to count as a jazz bass. If you are talking anything with two singlecoils, then you could say Carvin, Pedulla, Ken Smith and a long list of others.
If you are talking about the SCs with the offset waist, pretty much a straight Fender knockoff, that is a different story. I have seen a few here and there from custom builders, but I don't know of a production line of NT "jazz" basses.
FWIW, a lot of the mojo of the class J bass comes from the bolt neck. An NT would not be the same animal at all.

I have Carvins on my mind. Picked up an LB20 for $350 the other day. That's the cost of a Squier VM Jazz! Helluva deal for a helluva bass. It turned me into J's again. (See signature.)
thats what ive been thinking too. I would love to find one. I never noticed any through neck 4 string with jazz pickups at all though let alone a fender body and neck style

Hey Christw----------was there anything wrong with the Carvin you picked up for $350? That was about 800 bucks or so new right? What can you tell us about the sound/playability as I cannot get my hands on one to check it first hand (hmmm---was that a pun?)
I keep thinking about the Claro series, the LB75WB but with stacked humbucker pups instead of the regular wide humbucker.
Dang it--------------they look so quality and then something pops up in a thread or something that says they are kind of blah when played. Sure hate to hang out a bunch of $ to find out it went blah on me.

I picked it up with a zombie (beyond dead) set of some pretty heavy gauge strings. 120 at least. It didn't tell me anything about its tone, but it felt pretty good, had one of those D-tuners, and was a Carvin. I figured it couldn't suck. My old guitar instructor from the days of lore always raved about everything Carvin: Great prices, exceptional quality, the excess of customization and personalization.
Some physical attributes: It sits very comfortably on me. No neck dive. It hangs in just the right spot. The neck is very comfortable. It's certainly thinner than I'm used to, being a raging P-Bassaholic. I haven't had enough time to really say with certainty, but it feels faster than my P Bass.
And onto tone: Wow! I put on a lightly used set of Roto 66 (.105) from my P Bass onto it. Wow! It has a bright, punchy, defined tone. It had character. It was everything my P Bass was missing.
Both pickups on and a pick and it was like a quote from Rancid's ...And Out Come the Wolves album. The neck pickup sounds amazing solo'd, which I've NEVER even contemplated on a Jazz before. (I saw that thread about it and thought, what the hell!) I haven't given it a good run on the bridge yet, but I think I'll be equally excited about that. Finger style was comfortable and quick. I feel more at home doing more complicated playing on the Carvin. I even like the feel for slap playing, which is a Christmas miracle. (No jokes there, I promise!
) I've sold basses because they don't feel comfortable slapping. This one simply feels natural for everything.
I emailed Carvin for additional specs on my exact bass. I'm pretty sure it's got the two single coils, D tuner, black hardware, and no extra options beyond those.

I think I've been GASing for a Carvin custom for years. I wouldn't argue at all. Check their in stock basses! Saves you 50% of the custom shop details they added!
As for personalized customs... I'm thinking since I'm so pleased with this score, my next one will look like this:
Walnut body / headstock cap (tung oil'd all over)
Birdseye maple FB
Stacked buck neck / big buck bridge
Abalone inlays / logo
...and gold hardware. I want 'er pretty.
EDIT: There's truth in my sig. I'm a liar. There aren't any neck-thrus with SC / Buck in stock.

So, being a further liar, my bass is NOT an LB20. It was sold to me as being an LB20. (I didn't know each model number's designations and specs until tonight.) It, however has the same layout characteristics, and somehow I missed the fact that it was a bolt on. *smacks forehead*
