mcapote, I'll see what I can do. I have a decent (admittedly cheap) setup here and MEKer will be visiting soon to check it out too. I'll tweak the setup if I have time tomorrow morning and see if one of us can put a track or two down for you.
IIRC, I think I've seen Larry play one and it looks from the back to be neck thru.

Devon makes a GREAT looking J. I had one for a while that I sold in June. It is bolt on. They do offer their Grace model in neckthru, but the Diamond J is bolt on.

Just curious. Why is neck thru important. If a kick-butt J was available to you, but it was a bolt on, what would make you walk away.
I have 5 basses....three are neck thru, two are bolt on. They kinda are what they are and they all work well for what I need. Just tryin' to figure out what you thought might be missing.
there is no set reason persay, I just never really seen one, and My favorite basses that ive heard or played have always been through necks. I figure of im gonna dump that kind of money on my first expensive bass (compared to my current basses that were all bought under $250ea ) I might as well look at all my options and get the one I like best and I love the look of through necks along with the noticeable increased sustains on them. Dont get me wrong if it sounds like ass compared to a MIA Fender I would be stupid to not get the fender, in the end sound matters, but I guess I want to have my cake and eat it too, and im just curious as to my options.

I have a Carvin LB70 with the J/HB config but you can of course get JJ. I think it sounds great, the negative opinions of Carvin sometimes are from experiences with basses from years back - they changed their pre-amp a couple of years ago and the J pup recently. It doesn't sound exactly like a J bass but it has great low end tone, growly (that's the HB tho), clear high end. Mine is all walnut with tung oil fin - looks great - the build quality is first rate imo. You can hear clips of many of the Carvin basses on the Carvin channel on their web site.

Again, it is all Ken Smith in style. It just happens to have the jazz PU configuration.
Couldn't find a Pedulla photo. Although, I am all but certain I have seen a J-J Buzz before.
Yeah, I haven't checked they're offerings recently, but back in 1985 when I worked for a Pedulla dealer I know the Buzz and MVP were available w/ Bartolini PJ, JJ, or dual saopbar configurations.
