Yeah, you know what I mean, probably someone think this is a stupid question, that one's on me, I still dont get it, why on earth are some basses equipped with the humbrest below the strings???

It's actually called a Tug Bar. They were put there when the bass was first invented because players would strum the strings with their thumb and anchor their fingers on the Tug Bar.

Never heard about that before, very interesting, anyone still strum the strings with the thumb now'a'days ?
