Thunderbird Club

Dad just told them if they don’t behave he’ll replace them with thunderbirds!

Looks really nice! Better than the last one that fell through. The Korean birds are better than the China birds in my opinion. The stress cracks at the heel look to be finish cracks and nothing structural. But I would ask what happened to the serial number on the headstock.

Was wondering about that also. I don’t ever recall seeing a scarf joint on a thunderbird that had the original neck. That combined with the lack of serial numbers on the headstock and the stress cracks in the neck pocket make me wonder if the neck has been repaired or replaced. It’s an odd one considering it would probably cost more to repair or replace that neck than just to buy a whole new used Eppi Tbird. That said, if it is a repair or replacement it looks every bit as good (maybe better) than the original.
Serial #should be on the neck plate.

I dig this bass!
Having always liked Kubicki's, this bass is total coolness.

Yeah, one of my influences of picking up bass was Duran Duran bassplayer John Taylor and he played X-Factor basses during the band's "Notorious" era.

Speaking of which...

Note also that crazy minimalist guitar Warren Cucurullo is using, it looks so uncomfortable.

I don't mind a PJ setup on a Bird body.

Sorry - didn't mean to come off as discounting the option... just a personal preference. :bag: All basses are cool basses. :bassist:

Two of my P - somethings... abet being Fender clones...

I understand the idea that PJ pickups don't necessarily look "at home" on the Bird shape. The soapbar look seems more "correct" to me as well. I think in the 80's I saw as many Bird style basses with PJ pickups as I did with soapbar style pickups so both seem to fit the style in my eyes.

I like the reverse “double P” setup on the white one, on the right side of the third pic. I have A LOT of P-Basses that I have added a 2nd P bass pickup at the bridge and it has become my favorite P-Bass configuration. I have been curious about doing it with the pickups reversed but never really wanted to do it on a P-body.

Now that pic of the white T-Bird with double reverse P’s has me thinking…
which is always bad… at least for my bank account…
