Thunderbird Club

Yeah it was hard to tell from the photo when I was buying the material, but I like the colour. It’s going to get a black bird on it.
@Stealth57 ’s idea on the red actually.

Rudolf 'Rock' (Rudy Salm of Zwick) in Hamburg owns this one - I did a semi-opaque white film under the cut-out to hide/defuse the inner lighting source before shipping.

The red looks fantastic!! Might look interesting on my black Greco.

Amps, like basses, like strings ... are all subjective. We all are on a life-long journey as bass-players to link-up all the particulars over time that result in what we personally translate as bass nirvana. It manifests itself to each of us individually and sometimes aligns with others and sometimes not. Key is enjoying the journey and continuing to fine-tune our ears to discern such nuanced differences. When I first started as a 13yr old in 1966 - I was totally clueless. It's taken decades to hone my ideal bass sound and I'm as close to it as I can be right now to simply be able to accept it and focus on being creative on bass.
For me, the holy grail-soundwise-was when I had 2 of these. 1 head into both 2x12 cabs was heaven. Not a lotta 'oomph', but tone up the ying-yang.
1963-Fender-Bassman-004.jpg I also got to play a few times through a B-18 at a rehearsal situation. The guy was selling it. Unfortunately, he knew what it was worth.

Dunno 'bout best. Most maybe.;)

Years ago I had a guy buy one of my (very cool) custom Gildaxe basses, and the next day he wrote a PM to me saying he was drunk when he hit the BIN tab. Begrudged, I offered to renege his offer to buy it - but quite honorably, he accepted his responsibility to follow thru and accept the sale. Who knows if he was actually happy with the bass - but I respected his responsible addressing of the reality of his inebriated on-line purchase.

I played a B-18 loaned from a friend to play a gig at the Offutt Air-force Base officers club in my high school 'combo'. I only recall the green glowing AMPEG clear acrylic 'plate'... it was a long time ago.

It's true

I'm going to have to open mine up again in the near future, the vol. pot on channel A acts like it might need cleaning.....

At some point, I'm gonna need to get the problem with channel B looked at/fixed - even though it's not really a problem, it needs to get fixed at some point, I think.

if only you knew someone within a couple of hours drive who’s an amp genius…

I feel very fortunate that Chucky (as the amp guru he is) was within driving distance to revive my beloved Ashdown Spyder... but more importantly it established a friendship related to our shared interest as musicians and as people/friends! If you are open to it - really positive things always can 'happen'. Life is filled with positive avenues as long as you are open to navigate them!

Geo - I love the organic look you achieved with that bird body. The soft corners and compound curves with that finish almost make the bass look like it grew that way naturally. I’ve never been fond of the kabuki style headstocks or headless basses, but with the unique drop tuner/multi scale feature it makes sense. Are those G&L pups? If so, I bet she’s a screamer.

That looks like a L2000 layout!
