Then you would be pleased to hear that he is reuniting with his former bandmates this month, which I just learned from the band's website. I was not a real die-hard fan but watching them perform on that show reminded me that they are a good band. They are coming down my way so I might have to check it out.

I did a little grain polishing on the body, but the neck is a joy as is. I'm really looking forward to getting it built now. Pickup choice is a bear for now. I can't do some ordinary P pickup in a P-Bird. Alumatones are up there, as are rails. I have a cover that will go over the bridge because it is shiny. I like shiny.@Gaolee Looking good!

Have you ever tried (Lace?) Alumitones on anything? I was looking at the P-bass models on Best Bass Gear site and thought the technology seemed interesting. But I don't see many places that carry them.
Epiphone did make a NR version in several colors but with P-J pickups. The white was originally a beat to $#!+ sunburst finished version that I had refinished.
And IIRC Fender sued Gibson over the Reverse shape. The NR came after which actually favored Fender styling much closer. See this link:

Yes. I have them in the Zombiecaster and in the fretless 'Bird. They are hard to describe. They are in the neck and middle positions like a Strat in the Zombiecaster, and I can only describe their sound as some mix of piezo, 7ender single coil, and P90. In the fretless 'Bird, they are different depending on how high you adjust them. The sound gets more scooped as the pickups get closer to the strings. I like them, but they are their own thing.

It's a myth based on ancient history. I suppose Thunderbirds probably did neck dive in 1962 or so, but that's been solved since the late 1980s, if not since long before that. But don't tell anyone. It's a source of endless amusement.So I told the story Here about how I ended up with a T-Bird. I am pretty sure it will the last NBD for awhile; well, not counting the Keisel Fretless B25 that is in production. I think it needs new strings and a little fretboard cleaning, but otherwise in decent shape. I played it a bit this past weekend and love the growl. I will need to channel my inner rocker to play this, but it has been awoken after a couple of decades.
