I should've auditioned for Them Crooked Vultures, You know, just to say I did. I think I got my crooked left foot turned straight after finishing that phrase. Pretty sure.

Yeah. I've been at this long enuff to remember going into Carroll's or ACE Music(Miami)and asking for "some bass strings".

Carroll Music had an Alembic Spoiler in midnight blue I remember lusting after... Around 1980 or so.

Sound man/person? FOH? Wuzzat. Last time we had sound men was in 2015. None of the venues we play have either of those. I'm subbing with a big band Tuesday night. I think that place has sound folk.

It's rare for us, this place is an exception. The woman who owns the place lives to have live music, she had the stage area remodeled too

Thenks. I was earnest, we hadn't rehearsed with the sub guitar player much, and I was after getting a run to line up with a change! A friend who plays, and who I'm doing some carpentry for, took the shot. He likes the band. Poor guy...

6 mos out of a set with heavy use doesn’t sound too bad. For the money though, SITs, whatever the flavor, are hard to beat.

I guess i was honestly surprised, but being used to Nickels & the way they mellow out overtime (& settle), Stainless on the other hand, i'm not overly versed in their mellow out phase, but i seem to have gotten good use out of em for sure. Just baffled they sounded deader than worn in nickels IME. No matter, i do love the SIT Nickel Powerwounds on this particular pbass.

I’m only using SITs and Dunlops these days. All stainless, all the time. Except for DA Chromes on one Pbass and DA tapes on my TV Silver Epi Thunderbird.

Down the road, my only bass with flats will be a fretless Pbass i plan on building (simply cause i have lots of leftover parts in my bin, & would want to see them in good use).

Doing a little 400 grit rough up before the games today.
It’s kinda hard to take sandpaper to a pristine finish..but here we go.
I still have to set up my rotisserie in the shed and wait for a little less humidity before I start the paint work.

I liked pretty much all of it. Maybe not Slade or Kiss so much. But Queen. Sheer Heart Attack was my favorite album of theirs. Impeccable live.

I got interested after seeing the docudrama about Freddie Mercury and then watched the YouTube vid of that same Live Aid performance. They did a good job in the movie, but the real performance was incredible. From the minute they hit the stage to the last note - it was an amazing performance. He really knew how to grab an audience - and a huge one at that. And his band was second to none - just outstanding musicians all.

This was posted not long ago.

It's a sloppy DIY paint-job for sure - and if one would go to that trouble, wouldn't you just cut a new pg for it that fits the original holes? Or at least patch the hole that is peeking out from under the pg before painting? As you can fine an unmolested VP for around the same price (or lower) - why would someone want that? Kinda screwed himself on resale.

A couple clubs in the Bay Area have upped their game in the last couple of years - really good FOH/sound-person/pro lights and lighting person... and a decent backline. It makes performing so much more enjoyable for us and the audience.

I installed black tape-wounds on my '68 EB3 because they felt smooth - I really didn't discern how they sounded back then.

only three of us today so I just brought one amp and the CP (the mellowest of my basses).

There was a story a few weeks ago with a gator on a bank with one of those huge pesky Pythons hanging out of it's mouth. First time I ever liked a gator that wasn't on boots or belts.

Yep - the members of the Mama's & Papa's did a lot of background session singing before starting their group. Definitely sounds like them.
