Imagine PillO and WillyW in a Rambler station wagon, crossing the incontinent. It would be an epic movie. They would stop off and play two Thunderbird shows at every rest area.

Been out for a little while at La Perouse.

The French arrived at Botany Bay the same day, Jan 26 1788, that the Brits were hoisting the Union flag and claiming the east side of the continent. Funny how timing works out for these things.
Anyway there is a little Museum and a Monument there plus a grave site for a French Priest and Scientist, who got sick in Samoa and later died.

So it is the site of the French landing and camp, and the site of the first Frenchman, first priest and first scientist to be buried in Australia (all in one). Also, his funeral is believed to be the first Catholic Mass to be celebrated in Australia. So the poor guy, Pere Laurent Receveur, got some firsts up but not ones that you’d want.

Beautiful day, 24c (75f) and sunny.

The Brits left the French in peace for a few days while they did a few repairs and got organised for the rest of their trip. Alas, both ships were lost in a storm in the Solomon Islands.

When I see such things, I try to imagine what it looked like to those at the time. I always thought a time machine to go back in time and see what things looked like would unbelievably cool. Just wouldn't want to get stuck back then.

BTW looking at a couple of leaflets I picked up at the museum, they stopped off at Monterey California before heading towards the Pacific Islands and Australia.

For those that love to beat on FedMess, here is the latest. A client lost his security key and asked us to ship him a new one. FedEx International overnight. Shipped Tuesday. 3 copies of the invoice included with the airbill. They lost all 3 copies and have been sitting on the delivery without telling anyone. So, after shutting down a client all they said was send another copy to [email protected]. I am sure that will expedite things just fine.

Thanks for posting that Marshall. The 76 Ripper on its way to me has a repaired headstock break that looks pretty ugly. I'm hoping to fill and respray the crack, but keep the original logo and serial number. I'll need the technique in that video to check the new lacquer.

Hate to hear that. So things are still normal at FedMess. Glad they are slipping. Something to be said for consistency.

I had to ask a driver a few months ago: "Do you mind putting packages on the porch and not the drive by the garage door? It's easily visible and will get rained on? Not you, but one guy put some boxes at the garage door and I backed over them, not knowing anything was there."
Unimpressed Driver: Yeah, I can do that. I try to put packages where the customer want's them.
Unimpressed Customer: Great. Long ago the pouch is were we indicated to FE where we wanted all packages.
Unimpressed Driver: No problem, I'll take care of it.
