Wonderful! I just ordered a set for my Carvin to check out. I had what I think are Power Steels and they sounded good, but I got a cool tone from it with the Contour switch on my GK, which tells me that some inherent mid scooping compliments the single coils. I put on last night a set of D'Addario Pro Steels, which I hated on the Thunderbird because of the scooped sound, and they sound good, but not sure they're the answer. I'm eager to try the Power Wounds. The warmer nature of nickel may work well for those pickups. What do you think of them compared to the Power Steels?

I think of them more in terms of what will sound best on an individual bass, Power Steels sound fantastic on my '89, no string ever even comes close, but they don't really work that well on '76s as the pickups are so bassy with a lot of sub too. The Nickel are reasonably bright and have a warmer tone, very pleasant growl and great tone when you employ a pick. Interestingly, I don't recall the original Epiphone 760 pickups sounding nearly as nice as the ones in my two Epi '64's.

What threw me off was in the picture it doesn’t look like it’s fan fretted.

George brought it to the GTG last summer. I was surprised how easy the fanned frets are to play.

Nope, 8 is the magic number. 4.5" center to center on the yokes. I have two spaces left. One for the JC and then what should the other be? 1968 National, 1966 Kawai, Danelectro DC58, or 1992 Peavey Foundation?

And although I’m flat man.
I’m now on the hunt for some alternatives.
But not much in the way in the gauge I like.
I like EBCF’s well enough.
And have tried several other flats in gauges that suit me.
But found out about these.
Black may be the new purple.

I have another question, how do you have your Gibson’s sitting on there? Is it just touching one side or both?

Yeah, but California!

Somebody got a new set of strings today, I have these on my '64 II and really like them.
So, I sat down and played for about 45 minutes and I'm thoroughly impressed with both, the bass and the strings.

Excellent choice. I haven't tried them on one of the VPs (the burst has the PSs on it), but they sound fantastic on the '64. And much cheaper than the Infelds which I used for years. Fantastic all around string. Love the mids. A very full-bodied string IMO.

As most of that era, he didn’t talk about it. My guess is the Ardennes was the worst of it.

I have my original Hercules 3 yoke that I turned into a 5. So 13 slots but Ken would admonish me for having too much gear.

I hear you Chucky - statistics say many men are colour-blind on one level or the other. As a life-long Decorative Painter - I many times worked with a designer who was colour-blind. We worked together to make the outcome 'spectacular'.

Many years ago, I worked for a HVAC guy who was color blind. He was amazing, he could wire anything. Fast.

I never knew until one time when he got frustrated and asked me what color a wire was. He was a Badass.
