So-.it has been a trying and long week so once again I ask for grace in advance for something that would be semi-verboten on another familial bass website (or I’ve already shared)-

In that I will share the one song that triggered my desire to purchase a P-bass-

Featuring the masterful and lyrical comping by Rick Wills-

Cool song. I don't think there's any bass (brand, vintage or model) recorded that I didn't like. I may not like the type or style of music or playing, but I never think, "man, I really don't like the way that bass sounds". A Fender P doesn't need anyone justifying its merits - music history confirms the hard fact that in the hands of a good player, it rocks just as hard as any other bass.

In the distant past, I have posted "bass player available" ads on CL and I was very clear on all details of what I wanted to be involved with as a bass-player. Where I lived, where I was willing to travel to, what type of music I preferred, my experience, my gear etc. I inevitably got responses where it was very clear the person only read "bass player available". I gave up for many years as it just seemed hopeless.

Much later, I saw the Bond Girl post requesting a bass player, answered it, auditioned and the rest is history. (10yrs later!) When Cherie took a break later I posted an ad there for a female/keyboardist singer for TSC and got a few responses. One candidate showed up for audition only to admit she didn't play keys. Bye-bye. Another did a couple rehearsals but switched jobs (weekend nights) so she was gone. We were lucky when Kirstin answered my ad and more recently finding Zach and then Phil when needing a drummer. I think after all the years of dead-ends - I got a bit of luck.

Yep, I frequently (especially when frustrated with the little things that happen in bands, in either band situation), remind myself how lucky I am to be in two active bands. Also considering the age piece as discussed earlier today, even luckier still.

I always am checking CL for potential others to play with, and, as far as what I could do and would want to do, it’s slim pickin’s around here.

No one should ever have to ask for forgiveness for posting David Gilmour.

When you are in a band where things are stable and just work, you need to hold on for dear life. Bands are like being married to that many people at the same time. When it all works, it's magic.

and like a marriage, it takes some patience to deal with moods, personalities, etc.

To be involved with 5 other musicians between the 2 bands, and for none of those guys to be immature, irresponsible, and/or drug or alcohol abusing, is also a good luck of the draw.

Indeed. People that text as their only or main form of written communication can tend to assume people know what was meant just as they did. However, a good bit of longer written works, and even spoken communication can have some weakness there as well. Reading online news articles can often make you wonder if people even proof them.
have you seen captions on the news lately? all kinds of grammar and spelling inconsistencies….definitely makes one wonder…. lack of personnel? bandwidth? wasn’t like this…

So I must say that I wasn’t influenced by some famous artist to purchase a T-Bird. In fact for the longest I was pretty skeptical-

Then one day I watched a click bait comparison video on commonly known basses played clean finger style and slap with a funky rock riff-

Precision, Jazz, Stingray, Ric, Warwick Thumb (? Yeah I know), and T-Bird. And I thought- wow! - I never heard a T-Bird played clean where the majority of demos played them overdriven-

So thought- I’m digging the clean dark mellow tone of the ‘Bird-
