“Gabon mahogany”.Perfect, thx !
oh sh*t ! 7.14lbs the TBird ?!ultra-light & dry mahogany...
Chance Vought F4U Corsair... a personal favorite.
Thx D.....the Bicen came with these improperly installed (1 turn only) set of fairly fresh steel rounds (no silks) that sounded ok, V recommended Infelds(?).... the bass is clearly a keeper so now wondering what to do to it....new set of strings next....
Thanks George! one of my favorite reasons to play with that lineup is Tim (Huffy) on drums....great player, gets a pretty smoking solo at 5:45 of below......A night at the improv…
Always a challenge for the bass player who’s supposed to hold the rhythm section and keep the song recognizable while the guitarists riff off into deep stellar space before eventually coming back into orbit to finish the song. You (and the drummer) held it all together. Kudos.
Thx Marshall! little sidewinder mojo fingerstyle...Turn it up! We want Sidewinders in all their glory! That Bicentennial suits you Chuck.
I need to weigh mine. It feels really close to my 8 1/2 pound ‘21 NR. I find it plenty comfortable.
yeah sorry, Rockmasters. Not me, I do not care for Infelds at all. My '76s have always had Rounds on them, DRs, and later, Ken Smith Rockmasters.

If 4” aren’t too wide for you, you can check out Italia straps. They come in a variety of colors. They do smooth and suede backed. Get on the mailing list and you’ll get frequent 50% off or 2 for 1 offers. They do basic straps that once broken in are comfortable. And as a bonus, they’re made in NoCal. I have a couple black ones, a blue one, and a tan one. Call and ask if they can do a 3 1/2 for you.Looking for a recommendation on a 3.5" width leather strap. I got one from Perris a long time ago and they don't seem to make the same type any more.
Everything I see is either too short, must be longer than 52" or has padding in it, which I would prefer not to have.
The one I use on my Thunderbird is suede on one side, decent thickness and also pliable.

I just wish they made one in Purple:Those look nice. The price is right…
My JC came with TI Flats. Definitely low tension and take some getting used to.The Infelds I am referring to are the rounds, in the yellow package, not the TI Flats. I have a set of the TI Flats and I have never tried them on anything. It’s my understanding that they are really low tension, which malex me think I won’t like them and they will be super buzzy on a low action bass. Maybe I’m wrong. The TI “PowerBass” strings (purple silks) are also fantastic, just the right string for my VP.
That and the fact the bass player wasn't playing the correct line. Add the screeching "vocal"-and the fact I saw the original group play it-and it adds up toIt was the choreographed head and hair shake movements that got you, wasn't it?![]()
Wait. You saw IB live? You are my hero Mike.i still have the vinyl I bought when it came out. I ate dinner reading the liner notes. It still has remnants of what ever it was we had to eat. Yeah. I was a passionate kid. That and the fact the bass player wasn't playing the correct line. Add the screeching "vocal"-and the fact I saw the original group play it-and it adds up to

Yep. And the other day I re-discovered the tickets. Dunno where they are at the moment(boxing up 'stuff'), but they're definitely on the "save" list. It was around 1985 +/- at Miami Metrozoo.Wait. You saw IB live? You are my hero Mike.
