dream bass......what do you have it strung with? Is it part of your regular rotation? really digging taking mine out to gigs....
Currently 66s. Great match.
But have had TIs on it for a number of years. Also a good, but different option.
Fender Flats were on it in the pic. they were not bad either.
I find that bass pretty forgiving in terms of strings. Some basses seem really picky.
 
That's just cool. Is that bass thicker than most, or does it just look that way in the pic?

You're correct, it is thicker, as I recall it's a solid piece of Mahogany so it's not heavy at all, the knock off J neck is really quite nice, it plays like a dream.

He lived a somewhat tormented life. As many geniuses do. Can't underestimate the effect he had on recording and production. As I said somewhere else, he was a decent bassist who had the good sense to hire Carol Kaye to play on many of the recordings. He brought joy to millions.
I was a total fan in my tweens/early teen years.
