They do seem sweet. Wonder how different they sound from an ABM? I admit I love the comp and sub on the ABM, and the sliders. Not mention my playing opportunities may go down in several months, so another head can't in anyway be justified right now. Thanks for thinking of me on this. But a 330w version would be even more tempting.

I have one VP with GHS flats and the other with SIT Power Steels. Strings are cheaper than pickups so try some bigger sounding strings (I like TIs,

One string from TI I haven't tried. I like Jazz Rounds--but they are little strings and I get why most don't like them. But they sound great. I don't have them on anything currently but have an older set that might get a try one day. Full-bodied string, not bright, but not dull either.

I was just up in your, Veronica’s and Will’s neck of the woods (kinda - around Sand Point Idaho) for the last week. Beautiful country. Met one of my nephew in laws that came out to visit from Seattle and is looking to get into more bass playing for his worship band. He really loves the look of the NR but has never heard or played a Thunderbird before. He lives in Shoreline Washington if that’s close to any of you Seattle bird brains maybe you could connect with him if he needs more Tbird info.

Thanks George! He is much closer to V and Will, but I'd be happy to show him some basses if he's up here sometime.

trippy (uncommon in powered mixers) class G amp on this boasting 350W per channel at 4 Ohm (will drive 2Ohm) making it pretty heavy....the problem is with the rail switching logic not turning on the high voltage rail when needed.....quirky design from Canadian manufacturer, Yorkville (no offense intended Irv) making the repair questionable (bench time) from a price perspective when you can pick these up used for under 500 bucks.....another way out is to just use the control surface but the it would have to be stationary (rehearsal spot or studio) since it makes no sense carrying such a heavy item and not exploit its power amp......then again, the owner wants it fixed since it was a present from his late wife to replace a stolen one...... maybe tell his current wife to buy him the replacement to this one?....... muzos can be so

Philadelphia Luthier Supply has them, but the posts are SAE thread, while the ones on your VP are metric. You will have to replace the inserts. PLS ships them with inserts, be aware they are larger than those on the VP, so you'll need to drill the holes to suit.

Let me know if you're selling the VP bridge/tailpiece.

Church situation will likely be changing in the months ahead. Merger possibly and possibly playing in that situation, but way to early to know. May even close and use the property for additional low income Sr Living apartment buildings like we own on one side of the church. (Church is in a location no one would even consider putting one now. The plans for the area from the mid 70s never came to be and the area became largely commercial, and not pretty offices and shops commercial.) Hopefully I can find a way to play in a new setting. If not I will be looking to find some guys to play classic rock, maybe a few originals. I've got a couple guys in mind that could work if time permits. No super players (like me) and no weird egos. I will have to find something. I do not want to not be playing regularly. Not yet anyway. A band may have to wait till I retire--which I'm not interested either. The new situation may allow more free time--or less--who knows.

E1 pickups?

Epiphone calls them XR and XT pickups, they do not sound like the pickup in either of the older E1 models I have owned. I'm not certain what all I'm going to do with this bass, it was bought with the intent to modify it to some degree.

I'm thinking I may take the switch out of mine as well, I've read a couple reviews that state it doesn't really help in any good way and that if you roll off the volume of either pickup to try to balance tone you reduce the overall volume as well. - Suck switch may be the correct term! I would love to hear your thoughts Glenn.

Is the wiring in yours stock, Irv? I may need a new PG, could you make me one?

Mine has been modified, I think new pots for starters as these 3 on the body have a mid point detent, the smaller knob on the PG acts as a master volume? How do the controls on yours work (ahem!) ?

Thanks, Irv. Possibly so. I would like to do both. I miss playing music just for the pure personal enjoyment of it (i.e. rock). There may be time for both being possible, who knows. Especially if I decide to only take on a less than 24/7 role and not work so much. Right now we're in the getting ready to decide phase. I've prepped and explained the whys, issues and options. Now just have to authorize a team (Wed) to recommend an option and start working on it. I have ~20 yrs of experience in helping churches in tough situations and I hate the waiting part and would rather be further along, but as with many things you can do more damage going too fast than a little too slow.

Shots from last night’s Highfield gig. Took the p- bass and it sounded good but I missed the Thunderbird, sound-wise.
Playing again tonight, this time with both bands,Highfield & Poppy on the same bill. Also opening the show with my nephew doing a 5 song cover set. Bring the T-bird for sure.
