Thunderbird Club

Yes sir. (Possibly the little RM 300, but far less likely as it's light an easy backup, and I use it at home to not fire up the tubes.) To get the tube and drive sound I like I'm basically adjusting the vol with the output. With the input mostly maxed the output is barely on and the slightest movement can be way too much or little. Just hard to adjust in or even in between songs at times. Especially as I'm stepping around the cajon while the drummer is out. Most basses are maxed as well--other than the G&Ls. Definitely first world problems.

Would have preferred the 300 but never ran across a used one when looking. The 500 came up and I went that direction. Were I playing louder in rock gig setting it would work fine, but still more than I need. I've never "needed" more than 300w, inside outside PA or no PA.

Couldn’t you just have run the 500w with an 8ohm cab? Then you’d be at 250w.

I had a Super Reverb - four ten inch speakers and nearly 50 tube watts of ear piercing power. I sold mine a few months back and don’t really miss it. Some day I plan on getting a Rhodes bass piano and pairing it with my Ampeg B-18N instead of the Super Reverb. Might be an interesting combo.
Ha! I did not realize you had that. Otheise would have bought it and been sleeping in the doghouse. Again.

My guitar buddy I played with as a kid had a 60’s Super Reverb like that. Deafeningly loud.

I could, but would mean buying another cab (that I hopefully would like), and not using one I absolutely love, and have to bring it home--where I have no place or use for a 410. But, yes, that would have been a good option.

But the time I sell the 500 and some tuners and likely a Badbird bridge that I don't need I will be paid for.

Hey Donnie, which Badbird bridge you got?

if you haven't gotten by now Mike.....:smug:

Ok, picture one of these,

and make gravity = voltage, water (flow) = current and width of that center pipe = resistance. If you want more water flow (current) you can either raise the tank further off the ground (increasing the voltage) or make the pipe wider (decreasing the resistance).....

Silver face twins are rated at twice that (100W)....sometimes I wonder (and thank the powers to be) that I can still hear....

Doesn’t need to be a 410. This comes in an 8ohm:

It IS expensive, but if I had the excess $$, having an 8 ohm version would be nice. The 4 ohm means it is only LOUD.

On another note, the 600w HOD may be a little exaggerated, since it really is just a EVO IV 500w inside:

And the spot where the compressor knob is, is bypassed(?):

and the compressor select switch is permanently disengaged (there is no button on the front side):

but, I have the 4 button footswitch and one button is for the compressor, and it does light when I push it, I’m just not sure if I hear a difference.

The only other difference is that the HOD has an output meter on the front and the DI XLR is moved to the back.

Oh, don't know. It has black springs, if that means anything.
JT gave it to me with the '66 NR. I asked if he want that and other things I wasn't going to use and he said no, but feel odd selling it. Will likely check with him again just to make sure. He has them on all his Thunderbirds. Or the one's that needed them I should say.

Is it a 2 piece?
