Thanks for asking! Just about ready for finishing. I'm doing tests for a jade burst transparent stain. The top has some very slight flame, not sure how it will turn out...could end up being 'Lame Maple'.

Here's the build thread...
MARCH (MULTISTRING) MADNESS...32 and counting
Maaaaaaannn... your heel contouring is magnificent!!! Kinda sez, "Come on in & stay a while!"

I love seeing these works in progress! I'm anxious to see the finished piece (as I'm sure you are);)

Thanks, this is the first of two, the other is 32" scale, I haven't decided on the body style for it. I think a 12er definitely benefits from a through neck. This one is a three piece maple, dual trussrod, Macassar ebony fretboard built to Hamer nut and heel specs...only Hamer never built a through neck bass to my knowledge.

There's more work in a through neck, especially this one with a book matched cap and the contouring. But there's more perceived value and it's nice to fill a niche that IMO no one else is.

Here's the Res-O-Lite and Stealth tuners I'm using. Expensive but they save more than a half a pound over the usual Gotohs. Retail is about half the street price of an Epi Classic Pro.

Fresh blood at the top of the headstock. Cataldo DNA with every Cataldo!
A half pound??? Holy crap!!! I never would've imagined that tuning machines could make up that much of a difference!:wideyed:

Alright gang, my explanation as promised and a pic to follow. My cousin knows about the Vintage Pro and my love for Thunderbirds. And he knows what a whack job I am when it comes to basses. He just bought a house down here in SC. But told me he could absolutely not afford a '76 for me. So, I got to SC yesterday afternoon and says I got a gift for you. Now I'm still getting the Vintage Pro.........
N+1 has commenced. It's a bolt on, we all have to start somewhere.
