DR Legend Flatwound - tension & texture?

I put a set of these on my active Jazz 5 string a couple weeks ago and so far, I like them a lot better than the Ernie Ball cobalt that were on there before. They are still a little brighter than I'd like, but waiting for them to age a bit before I make a final determination.

DR Legend GUITAR strings are hex core, while the Legend BASS strings are round core.

It's the same tedious question, I know... On the DR website is explicitly stated that the Legend set is round core, it even says so on the pictured package of the set (right image). Yet I have an unopened set, bought sometime in 2010 or so, where it is also explicitly stated, on the package, "Polished Stainless Steel Bass Strings Wound With Hexagonal Cores" (left image). Have they changed the string recipe in the meanwhile? Or is the information on the box of my set wrong?

First time trying a set. Amazon has/had them for $33 so worth a shot. I put them on a player II Jazz. First off if they are roundcore it certainly doesn't feel like it, they are a bit stiff, but not excessive. This allowed me to set the string height really low. I normally play DR Pure Blues 50-110.

They feel nice and smooth and easy to play. E string is dead as a doornail, reminds me of GHS P flats. G string is VERY bright and twangy. A & D are somewhere inbetween. Their sound is very woody and organic, a bit upright especially on the E & A strings. Slapped they get that cool Rocco Palladino sound he had on his Squier Jazz bass (think he was using Labella).

G - HEY, I’M HERE!
D - bright-ish
A - warm
E - I have retired.

My only real issue is the winding looks separated where the D string passes over the saddle and behind it. There are a few bad reviews on Amazon where other report the same issue with the outer shell separating when installing and tuning them up to pitch. The strings intonated easily and everything seems stable so maybe it will be fine.
